11th - Miss World Charity Event*translated
by AL
from The Sun
Yesterday,
110 Miss World contestants attended an auction charity
ball in Hong Kong. This event will be miss world's last
stop in Hong Kong before they depart to Mainland China.
Among the contestants, they continued to wear gorgeous
gown to display their sexy figures, in particular, Miss
China wore a low cut "deep V" evening gown and
an elegant qi pao. On the other hand, Hong Kong representative,
Rabee'a Yeung, seemed to improve from yesterday by wearing
something less conservative.
Since this charity event was held in an outdoor setting,
many contestants were not able to handle the chilly weather
in Hong Kong. Consequently, most contestants had to put
on a shawl to keep them warm.
Before the contestants depart for Mainland China, the
media got a chance to ask how Rabee'a Yeung feel to compete
in Miss World. Rabee'a said she is not nervous at all,
she is actually quite happy to go to Hainan Island since
she has never been there before. She pointed out that
during their few days visit in Hong Kong, she gave all
the contestants a pair of chop sticks as a souvenir.

Winner:
#1 Ivy Feng (Will participate in MCI 2004)
1st runner-up: #10 Lisa Wang (Will participate in
MCI 2005)
2nd runner-up: #13 Danna Xia
Miss Photogenic: #13 Danna Xia
Miss Friendship: #8 Fionna Sze
Finalists: #7, #3, #9, #13, #10, #1, #15
15
women competed in this year's Miss Chinatown Chicago
competition. The winner #1 was not the prettiest facially,
but did extremely well in her Q&A as well as carrying
herself well with an air of confidence. Similiar to
the case with Rachel Tan when she won at both MCI
03 & Miss Chinese Malaysia. The 1st RU was also
very intelligent and had a nice figure. Most of the
audience hoped that #13 or 15 would take the crown
as they were the most attractive of the competition.
Unfortunately, they were not as solid as the winner
& 1st ru during the interviews. Overall it was
a fair competition. More pics from Judes at a later
time.

110
contestants have gathered in Hong Kong to begin their
memorable journey of Miss World. Yesterday, the contestants
went on a bus tour to the "Ching Ma" bridge
to take part in a photoshoot. According to the media,
most of the contestants wore low cut dresses to display
their figures (HK's desperate media @ work again...).
However, Rabee'a Yeung
who has the home land advantage chose to wear a more
conservative clothes to attend this event.
When Rabee'a was asked
if the dress was too conservative, Rabee'a
said, "no really, clothing must have their own
personalities, nonetheless asian are more conservative.
I just want to be myself as that's what makes me comfortable.
Right now, i am sharing a room with Miss
Singapore, both of us are getting along. But
the offical won't let any contestants to go out on
their own. Therefore, it was weird for me to not able
to go home. Compared to the foreign contestants, Rabee'a
seemed to lack in height. But she laughed and said
"I don't think I'm at a disadvantage. When I'm
posing with the delegates, the crew will ask me to
stand in the front row instead & I believe this
is an advantage!" For

Vivien
Yeo
was the youngest, tallest, and prettiest contestant last
night when she captured the Miss Chinese Malaysia crown.
The
Malaysian beauty hails from Johor Bahru and and is
pursuing a Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology) degree.
She will be a major contender at MCI 2004 as Malaysia
has placed in the top 5 since 1998, as well as capturing
the MCI crown last year when Rachel Tan won. The event
was held in Genting Highland, one of the hottest travel
locations due to the proximity of the casino.
It
was a tight race between the winner and 1st runner-up.
They were heavy favourites going into the event, whilst
the 2nd runner-up S'ng Seoh
Chien, (Shyevin) was supposedly a cold door
who had one of the best official portraits in my humble
opinion (this is Rana speaking). The judges felt she
had a lot of confidence in her answers, and thus her
good result.
1st
Runner-up Melissa Tong
also had a good interview, but might have lacked just
a slight bit in height compared to Vivien, and perhaps
the extra spark usually seen in winners.
Besides
winning the title, Vivien Yeo
also captured 4 other awards, Miss
Body Beautiful, Miss Elegance, Miss Fresh, & Miss
Photogenic. Well deserved! Other award winners
were #3 Chloe Lim who
captured the Miss Internet Award,
& #10 Petula Low
who was Miss Talent,
and was also one of the top 5 finalists, including
#12 Mandy Ng. *Image

6th - Preparations for Miss World
*translated
by AL
To
prepare for Miss World 03, Miss HK 1st runner up Rabee'a
Yeung was in TVB yesterday to fit on her evening gown
for the finals and costume for the talent show. This year,
there are a total of 110 contestants competing for the
title of Miss World which would take place in Hainan Island,
China.
Before, the finals, The organization has arranged all
the contestants to meet in Hong Kong for a parade, then
they will depart to Beijing and Xian to do their photo
shoot. Alright on to opinions....I think the dress would
look acceptable if the flowers/leaves are taken off! I
honestly don't understand why TVB must accessorize the
gowns w/ feathers or plants, etc. Luckily, we have another
beautiful delegate for Miss World & hopefully the
public will be more aware of Rabee'as good looks &
intelligence.
