  • MISS NEW YORK CHINESE FINALISTS
The 13 finalists for Miss NY Chinese were chosen about a month ago. So far they have been busy with events & meeting with sponsors.

It seems it may be another strong group. Check out their interviews on youtube.

I believe the one to beat is likely #13 Vicki Pon or #10 Shelly Yang. #13's weakness... she isn't fluent in Chinese but the HK public & media would love her in HK. Most beautiful of the group. #10 is the type who will shine on stage. Seems to be quite articulate. Let's watch 'em battle it out... Winner will represent New York at Miss Chinese International 2009.

    Meet the 13 Finalists

  • MISS HONG KONG 2008
My predictions so far... 5 Jovey, 11 Sire, 4 Samantha. But also liking 12 Denice & 3 Edelweiss....& 7 Hilda. How can we not include the overseas girl? :) If TVB wants an actress it will not be #5, even though she's well educated, speaks decently (though a lil nervous at times), may have the heart to give back to society & has the winner's look.

  • MISS BC WORLD
Finalists for Miss BC World is out! 6 will compete at Miss World Canada next year.

I think Shelley, Sun, Katherine, Hasti, Ashley O have the best photographs. Can't wait to see who'll be picked though.
  • MISS WORLD CANADA 2008
Meeting this weekend to sort out wardrobe & helping Leah w/ Beauty With A Purpose pkg :) Recruitment has begun for 2009. Apply here

  • MISS UNIVERSE 2008
My absolute fav. is def Venezuela. But her over the top poses & venezuelan hairflipping is TOO MUCH.

According to the Pageant Cafe, Miss Puerto Rico had a meltdown during the judges' Q & A session due to intense pressure from the PR Organization for her to place well. Poor thing! But the Donald & Donald JR. like her... and if Donald had his way, she'll be in the top 15 regardless.

  • TAHITI'S NEW MISS DRAGON BEAUTY QUEEN APPROPRIATELY NAMED ASIA *Courtesy of Tahiti Presse
(Tahitipresse) - "Asia" is the first name of 21-year-old Ms. Hiou-Hamill, who is appropriately the Tahiti Chinese community's new Miss Dragon.

An estimated audience of some 1,300 was on hand as a jury chose her from among six candidates for the annual beauty queen title during a dinner and election held over the weekend in the gardens of the Papeete City Hall.

The first runner-up is Tahnee Lee Kim Tchen, 22, and the second runner-up is Krystel Mu Kwai Chuan, 21.

The audience included Dongyue Chang, the Chinese general consul in Tahiti, and the first group of Chinese journalists brought to Tahiti by the GIE Tahiti Tourisme to discover Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora. The journalists represent the Chinese editions of five top, well-known publications based in the U.S.A.—Men's Health, National Geographic Traveller, Voyage Magazine, Cosmo Bride and Destinations Magazine.

The six candidates presented themselves to the jury members in traditional Chinese dresses and in a variety of various free-style interpretations, which included Ms. Hiou-Hamill's impressive performance of a Rapa Nui (Easter Island) dance.

A group of Chinese performers presented additional entertainment, which included a French Cancan dance, acts of magic, fire-eaters and transformists.

The new Miss Dragon, Asia Hiou-Hamill, has a mother originally from the island of Maui in Hawaii and a Chinese-Tahitian father.

Ms. Hiou-Hamill, who wants to become a licensed nurse midwife, will represent French Polynesia in the annual Miss Chinese International beauty contest
