JANET
CHOW, PREPARING FOR MISS WORLD 2006 *Translated from Takungpao
This year's Miss HK 2006 1st RU Janet Chow will be representing
Hong Kong at Miss World in Poland.
Janet tried on an evening gown yesterday at TVB City. Asked
if she's prepared for the prestigious Miss World 2006 event, she replied
"I will be leaving for Poland on September 1st and the pageant officially
begins on September 3rd. The stylists at TVB taught me how to apply makeup
& try on different hairstyles as I will be traveling alone. Last night,
I had dinner with Tracy Ip (Miss HK 2005 - who represented HK at MW 2005
last yr) & asked her for some advice. I also bought a lot of cellphone
(string) accessories for the other contestants as keepsake."
Do you have confidence? "I will go about with my usual
attitude". Do you have your boyfriend's support? "Of course!".
Also, MHK 2006 Aimee Chan & 2nd RU Koni Lui bought
her a thermos as a gift. Janet was extremely grateful as it's quite cold
in Poland & she doesn't adjust well to cold weather.
GOOD LUCK JANET :) And....THANK YOU TVB, for sending
HK's rep w/ a beautiful gown & nothing too futuristic for our taste.
It's also confirmed that MHK 2006 2nd RU Koni Lui will be competing at
Miss International in October. Here's hoping for a nice wardrobe! Fingers
crossed. Koni has an advantage as it's held in Beijing, speaks the language,
& has the qualities to succeed.

Miss Chinese International winner Leanne Li appeared in her first
wedding show yesterday, but she seemed a little stiff in her performance.
She laughs that the feeling of wearing a wedding dress is a very fortunate
one and she is pretending that the cameraman is her lover. She also
reveals that there are a few pursuits on her at the moment, but she
is in no hurry to start dating: "I hope my future boyfriend will
be a couple of inches taller than me, because it is hard work wearing
flat shoes all the time."

Miss Hong Kong winners Aimee Chan,
Janet Chow and Koni Lui appeared at the jewellery sponsor's prize giving
ceremony yesterday, dressed elegantly, where they were presented with
their prizes. Most winners will keep their crowns locked away in a safety
deposit box intact, but Aimee says that she will take the largest diamond
from her $1.6 million crown and have it mounted onto a pendant, so that
she can have it near to her. Janet's dress was particularly sexy, but
she strategically positioned her sash to keep herself covered.
Former Miss Hong Kong winner Pauline Yeung returned
from America especially for this ceremony and will be returning soon.
The other purpose for her journey was to make preparations for her
mother's 60th birthday and she plans to give her mother a set of jewellery
set with 60 diamonds, weighing a total of six carats.

HK NEWS *Translated & courtesy of Em, TVBSpace.Net
The three Miss Hong Kong winners Aimee
Chan, Janet Chow and Koni Lui were invited by watch sponsor to receive
their prizes. Shirley Yeung had been invited as presentation guest,
handing out the prizes for "Miss Photogenic" and "Miss
International Goodwill" as well as receiving a gift herself too.
Aimee's watch was very valuable, worth $380,000. Asked
what she would do with it, she says happily: "I will keep it
to wear myself and not put it in a safety deposit box because I want
people to see it." As she won two awards, she was presented with
two watches and she will make her selection based on what she is wearing,
but she does prefer more feminine designs. She smiles: "I would
like to be more ladylike and it needs to be very dependable because
I don't want to be late!"
For Shirley, who was Miss Hong Kong winner in 2001,
it has been five years already and being invited to be the presentation
guest, she says that the fee was very satisfactory. Asked if she has
met this year's winners, she smiles: "I have been filming so
I don't see them, but I have met the winner. (Have you noticed her
figure?) No,I have not paid attention to this. Maybe men will be more
interested in this. (Is your boyfriend like that?) I don't think so."

HK NEWS *Translated & courtesy of Em, TVBSpace.Net
This year's Miss Hong Kong winners,
Aimee Chan, Janet Chow and Koni Lui together with Tourism Ambassador
Suki Chui took part in a cooking competition as judges yesterday and
attracted many people to gathered and took photographs, proving that
the pull of the girls is not weak. Miss Hong Kong manager Rosa Chan
revealed that this year, Aimee cannot represent Hong Kong at the Miss
World Pageant on the 30th September because she is already 25 and too
old to qualify. This will now fall onto Janet to take her place. Aimee
was not disappointed by this because she can still take part in the
Miss Chinese International Pageant. Janet was very happy about this
because there are over a hundred contestants in Miss World and she hopes
to be able to experience more.
Suki's boyfriend Wong Chung Sang has had revelations
made about him by his former wife and model Janet Ma, saying that
he had asked her for all her jewellery back after their divorce. In
resonse to this, Suki said: "This was twenty years ago and things
have changed now. (Has your boyfriend give you any jewellery?) Yes,
I am very happy with him. (But your boyfriend seems rather petty to
ask for his jewellery back from his ex-wife?) It cannot be counted
by this, he is generous in real life and that is all that matters.
The most important thing is the thought behind the gift and the memories
that it holds."

MISS
HK BEAUTIES PHOTOS ON APPLEDAILY & NEXT MAGAZINE
*Special thanks to AL
Apparently, a couple of my Miss Chinese
Toronto 2004 coverage photos were used in Next Mag. & Appledaily
in HK! Thanks to Appledaily for crediting...
I'm not sure what the articles were about....but it was probably along
the lines of the newly crowned winner & 1st RU of Miss HK 2006,
both of whom competed at MCT 2004 but were unplaced, plus more silly
gossip of winner, Aimee Chan. Yawn! They need to get a life & get
over this 'surgery' thing.
