HK NEWS *Translated & courtesy of Em, TVBSpace.Net
The group camp for this year's Miss Hong Kong contestants
continued yesterday as their backgrounds came under the scrutiny of
the press. Some reports have indicated that Tsui Suk Man has a fifty
year old engineer 'sugar daddy' and this was the hot topic of the day.
With non-stop gossip about her since the contest started, Tsui Suk
Man tried her best to evade the questions and when the press asked
for a response, all she said was: "This is my private life, I
don't want to talk about it." With the publishing of some swimsuit
pictures she had previously taken as a model, she was asked about
the comment on her great figure, to which she responded: "I am
a woman after all. (Do you think this gives you an advantage?) No,
sometimes you see people in swimsuits, it is just a job. (Why are
you not responding to the reports?) I hope to keep my privacy. (Will
you spend less time with your boyfriend?) I will do everything I need
to for the contest. (Is that man your nominator?) My dad nominated
me. (Is taking part now going to affect your education?) I am busy
with my graduation report, so I just have to go back to school for
the presentation, otherwise I can study at home."
Another contestant Wong Ying has had some photos printed from when
she was modelling for a slimming company and she says that looking
back at the photos, she finds them to be healthy. She feels a little
offended by the magazine calling her a 'fake Joyce Chan' and printing
her measurements: "Some places have been skewed, those photos
were taken several months ago for a slimming ad, so there was no problem
wearing a bikini. I am still within contract with them, so the photos
can be used for up to a year. I don't regret doing this though because
they are very acceptable and I don't think it will affect me. My family
are very supportive of me."
Current Miss Hong Kong winners Tracy Ip and Sharon Luk joined the
girls in the camp yesterday and Tracy indicated that she had read
the reports on this year's contestants. She says: "Everyone has
a past, it is nothing of note." As for the news about Tsui Suk
Man and the engineer's love affair, Tracy feels that this kind of
negative press will not affect the chances of winning: "Love
has nothing to do with age." As for Sharon, she says: "The
news happens every year, so we shouldn't take too much notice. Some
are real and some are false, so we shouldn't think about it."
Tracy and Sharon are yet to have proper chats with the girls and
Sharon says: "This year's standards are not bad, they are still
putting on their own make up for now, but after they have had the
'treatment', they will look a lot better."
The contestants were split into three groups yesterday and each group
allocated a different budget, with which they had to prepare a meal.

HK NEWS *Translated & courtesy of Em, TVBSpace.Net
The twenty-one contestants for this year's Miss Hong
Kong pageant have entered the Po Leung Kuk Pak Tam Chung Vacation Camp
for their group training and during this time, a documentary of their
progress will be filmed, entitled "Beautiful Friends Camp".
On the day of their arrival, they first took part in the Night Trail
up the hill to test the courage of the girls. Each given a torch and
a whistle, they had to find their way up the darkness of the hill path
and although there were film crew with them, Lui Wai Yee and Lee Wing
Sze were both so frightened by the darkness that they burst into tears.
Noted as a Shu Qi lookalike, Lui Wai Yee indicated that she is not
afraid of creepy crawlies, but she is afraid of the dark: "Although
the organisers had said that I could whistle for help if I was afraid,
I didn't blow it and kept on going until the end." She does not
think she looks like Shu Qi, saying: "She is much prettier and
very attractive, I am not as sexy as her and not as alluring, however
I am very happy and honoured to be compared with her." For Lee
Wing Sze, she was especially scared because she was the first to go
and she was so scared that she was shaking and crying. She did not
call for help though, explaining: "I did think about blowing
the whistle and not continuing, but luckily I finally completed it."
Tsui Shuk Man has been named as a Kyoko Fukada lookalike, but she
looked a little tired yesterday, which she explained as being due
to an early start and then going to bed late: "In my group, the
seven of us took it in turns to have a shower and I was the last to
go, so I am very sleepy. I don't think I look rough as I am in good
form." As for press reports that have photographed her being
picked up by her boyfriend, she was asked whether this is her boyfriend.
She politely pointed out that this is her private life so she does
not want to reveal anything before bowing and apologising before walking
away. Cheng Wing Sum has been likened to [Nic Tse's sister] Tse Ting
Ting and says that she likes outdoor activities so she is very tanned.
She does not think she looks like Ting Ting.
Course tutor and former Miss Hong Kong winner Olivia Cheng entered
the camp yesterday to teach the girls how to make a raft, throw beanbags
and some survival techniques. The girls were split into three groups
and the winning team will have some private golf lessons with Olivia.
After chatting with the contestants, Olivia comments that the girls
come from many different places and they are much more intelligent
compared to those in the past.

HK NEWS *Translated & courtesy of Em, TVBSpace.Net
Miss Hong Kong winners
Tracy Ip, Carrie Lam and Sharon Luk wore their chipaos
and crowns to a travel promotion yesterday and they all said that it
has been over six months since they appeared in this attire. However,
they have kept their crowns at home, with Sharon
keeping it near her bed for easy access, Tracy
having 'mock crownings' with her mum and Sharon's
friends asking her whether she had to return it after the year. Carrie
laughs: "I was just trying my crown on in front of the mirror yesterday
and sometimes when my friends visit, they will try it on."
The stones on the tiaras that the girls wore yesterday were made
from crystal. The real jewelled crown presented to Tracy
worth $1 million will be collected when she opens
her safety deposit box. She says: "Apart from not receiving the
crown yet, I have already had all my other prizes, but they are all
in the hands of my mother, because she has more chance of using them.
As for the apartment on the mainland, my family have been to stay
there, but I haven't." Talking of the standards of this year's
contestants, Tracy knows that there are a number of models taking
part and some are very pretty.

FALA
CHEN NEWS *Translated & courtesy of Em, TVBSpace.Net
Despite her busy schedules after being promoted by TVB recently,
Fala Chen made the most
of her day off by going shopping and bargain hunting before having a
karaoke session with fellow Miss Chinese International winner Leanne
Li and some other friends.
After taking part in a charity event with Lai
Lok Yi on Saturday, she enjoyed afternoon tea with
her manager in Kowloon Tong before going on a shopping spree in the
nearby mall, picking up an array of clothes and shoes in the space
of half an hour. Then she bought a cake and headed over to Tsimshatsui,
where she picked up a few bargains in Granville Road. Afraid of being
noticed, she also bought herself a cap to hide herself from the crowd.
Later, she met up with Leanne
and fellow children's presenter Vin
Choi before going over to a karaoke bar until around
2am.
In an interview later, Fala said
that she was not worried about being spotted and that she bought the
cap because her hair was messy. she added: "I didn't have anything
to do that day, so I took the opportunity to practise my singing.
Also I don't have time for leisure lately because I am busy filming,
so I joined some good friends such as Leanne
for some fun. We do normal things like shopping and karaoke, it's
a great way to relax!"
In other news, after a 6 month break, TVB Space is back!!! :)
