The 18 contestants of this year's Miss Asia pageant have been busy with promotional events. Yesterday afternoon, the contestants appeared in swimwear for press photos. The press revealed some of their favourites as #5 Korea, #9 Kitty, 12 Cammy.

Today, the delegates dressed in their chosen national costumes competed for the Best National Costume award. Some of the judges were Lam Wai-San, Yuen Man-Git, Lu Jing-Jing, Toh Ting-Ho.

All the costumes had its own creativity & uniqueness, but it was #2 Miss Lebanon & #5 Miss Korea, & #12 Kammy (China) who scored the highest with the judges. In the end #2 Lebanon & #5 Korea tied for first place.

#5 Miss Korea felt as if she were in heaven after winning the national costumes award. It's said her costume is approximately $25K HKD, worn only on Korea's new year's & special occasions. She had great difficulty putting on the 3 piece traditional Korean costume due to its many layers. Miss Korea also revealed she has confidence in herself & hopes to perform well during the finals. She believes Miss Lebanon is one of the most beautiful & strongest competitors.

The day was also a special one for #18 Miss Vietnam, as it was her birthday. The Miss Asia organization bought her a cake to celebrate.

Interviews for Miss Chinese Toronto 2005 have begun. Potential candidates were interviewed by a large panel of judges followed by a swimsuit presentation. Judging from 4(?) groups, there were quite a bit of tall & attractive candidates. Some were quite young looking & most were accompanied by their anxious parents, siblings, friends or boyfriends. Most came out relieved & cheerful.

Good luck to all. You've done your best & it's now up to the judges :)

  • Tracy Promotes Facial Slimming *Translated by Em, TVB Space News
This year's Miss Hong Kong winner Tracy Ip has been surrounded by a lot of press coverage, but she has been selected to become the face of a beauty salon, landing a six-figure fee for an 18-month contract as well as receiving $100,000 of treatments for free, making her very happy indeed.

Filming for the salon's latest set of ads, Tracy was wearing a little top and some shorts to show off her healthy sexiness. She reveals that she has been suffering from water retention, causing swelling in her cheeks, but after undergoing some treatment at the salon, she has slimmed her face and this probably led to the rumours about cosmetic surgery. However,Tracy's mood was not affected and she adds: "I'll just treat it as publicity if they write about me. I do want to make it clear though that I was just having massage to reduce my water retention and I don't want this to affect the salon's business negatively. I don't mind what people say as long as I and my family are clear about me."

Salon boss Ms Chow is very caring over Tracy and not only helped her with make-up during filming, but also showed her how to pose for the cameras. Speaking of Tracy, she says: "She is very pretty and sweet and she has a very mouldable look, so I had her do some modelling for me even before she won. Now she is Miss Hong Kong, then I am really happy for her and I will celebrate with her later." Tracy says she will not disappoint anyone and will be launching into a showbiz career full swing, filming series and movies, all to be arranged by TVB.

Tracy also appeared at an official crowning ceremony to receive her Miss Hong Kong crown, worth $1.6 million with 38.2 carats of diamonds on it. The presentation was made by her predecessor, former Miss Hong Kong winner Pauline Yeung. She said afterwards that she has never worn anything so valuable before so she feels a bit nervous and has asked her mother to open a safety deposit box for her to keep it in.

Newly crowned Miss HK Tracy Ip & her court (1st RU Sharon Luk, 2nd RU Carrie Lam), along with Miss Photogenic - Shermon Tang & Miss International Goodwill- Natalie Hui all received expensive watches from the sponsors. Tracy's exquisite platinum gold timepiece is valued at approx. $248 880 HKD.

Tracy says it’s the most valuable watch she’s owned. Not one to splurge on materialistic items, the most expensive watch she's purchased for herself was approx. $800 HKD (about $100 USD).

The press also pestered her with questions such as receiving gifts from rich guys to whether she's currently in a relationship? Tracy laughed & replied she will not accept anything pricy from anyone in order to avoid any misunderstandings & motives & that she doesn't have a boyfriend yet.
