  • Two hot doors from Mr. HK *translated from The Sun
Miss Asia 1995 finalist Ko Suet-Fa's son John Gong Jaak-Lung & Matthew Ko Gwan-Yin
are the current favourites at this year's Mr. HK pageant. In case you've forgotten, Ko Suet-Fa turned a few heads at Miss Asia, competing at the age of 45/7 (at the time, she had a 25 inch waist!) It was the first year, where ATV changed the age limit, and in turn, Ko's participation boosted huge ratings.

John has already had international success, winning both Mr. Shanghai, & another international
modelling competition. His experience on stage will no doubt be exceptional.

Matthew was a student in Toronto but has sinced moved back to HK & signed up with a modelling agency. He was recently in a 3G phone commercial & has attracted many female admirers. Back in Toronto, Matthew attended the same alma mater as Miss Asia 1995 Kristy Yang Gung-Yue.

  • Miss HK 2002 Semi-Final Qi Pao replica?
I recently did a search on qi pao's on Ebay & came across a seller (slp678) with many Chinese traditional gowns, including one which looked like the white qi pao from MHK 2002 SF (aka MUC 02 Zhu Ling's evening gown). I purchased one at 99 cents (shipping $12.99 USD) & the item (along w/ free gift) arrived promptly after 1.5-2 weeks from China. I love the dress...although I overestimated my size so I'll have to alter it when I wear it....someday :)

White qi pao: Check it out! this one is ending in 15 hrs. Sizes range from S-XL

  • Miss Dragon 2005 (Miss Chinese Tahiti)*courtesy of Carolyn Nancy
Twenty-year-old Yvette Cheong has become Tahiti’s new Miss Dragon, the second biggest and most prestigious beauty queen contest after the yearly Miss Tahiti event. She succeeds Elodie Chung, Miss Dragon 2004.

As the winner of the Miss Dragon 2005 title, Yvette qualifies for the Miss Chinese International contest, which is watched each year by more than 200 million television viewers worldwide. Yvette also will participate in various Chinese community celebrations in Tahiti, such as the annual Chinese New Year.

Audience of more than 1,000 people in Papeete City Hall gardens

More than 1,000 people filled the Papeete City Hall gardens on Saturday night for the Chinese community’s Miss Dragon contest, which featured nine candidates of ages between 17 and 22. The various aspects of the competition called for the candidates to pass before the jury wearing evening gowns, bathing suits and traditional Chinese attire.
The two runners-up are: Loanah Chong, 21, first runner-up, and Leilanie Lilyn-Chand, 19, second runner-up.
The candidates often chose to focus on the Chinese cultural marriage within the Tahitian world that today’s Chinese are an integral part.
“I chose the “multi-ethnic” theme because I wanted to represent a Chinese woman who grew up in Tahiti and who, at the same time, continues to practice her customs while learning the Tahitian culture,” Yvette said.
