After almost 48 hours since departing to Bangkok, Thailand, our Miss Universe Canada 2005 Natalie Glebova will arrive at the host city on May 12th @ 3:35pm on Japan Airlines flight #5113. Due to a 2 hour delay on her flight from Los Angeles, California to Osaka, Japan, Natalie missed her connection flight to Bangkok last night.We at Beauties of Canada wish Natalie the best of luck in Miss Universe 2005. She has done an excellent job preparing herself for the challenge and whatever the results on May 30th, we are proud of her and her achievements!

As announced by the host herself, Fairchild Radio's Program Host/DJ Janice Cheung Wan-Ji will be leaving for the MHK 2005 pageant soon as she could be one of the lucky 5 overseas contestants selected for MHK 2005.Janice is 23 yrs old & stands at approx. 5'3". Her hobbies include shopping, singing, clubbing, DJ mixing & has a love for animals. She attended the University of Toronto & was even in $10's class one summer! She was tardy once ;)

She expressed that originally she planned to go to Japan, but because of the anti Japanese sentiment, she not only has cancelled her trip to Japan but also did not go out for Japanese food yesterday with her mother. They went for Italian food instead. She said, "Mommy isn't materialistic. As long as she sees us healthy she is happy."

"When I was little I drew pictures fot Mommy. We have been like sisters since I was little. We can wear each other's clothes. She has been very supportive on whatever decision I make. When I have a boyfriend I definitely bring him to meet her."
Mama Kwok said, "Actually since she was little I haven't had to be strict with Sonija because she takes measures in life. She is obedient and hard working." The most memorable was when her daughter still could not speak at the age of three. "I thought she was mute! The other event is when she flew for the first time as a flight attendant. I couldn't have been more worried."

The press conference for Mr. HK was held yesterday afternoon at the HK Gold Coast Yachy Club at 3pm. Guests included Frankie Lam, Kenny B, Sek Sau, MHK 2001 2nd RU Heidi Chu, MCI 2005 winner Leanne Li, 1st RU Fala Chen, MHK 2003 Mandy Cho, & MHK 1999 Sonija Kwok (who'll be one of the judges at Mr. HK).Entry deadline will be on May 30th 2005. The contestant must be at least 16 yrs of age by .June 1st 2005 & must be the holder of a valid HK ID card. Rules are similiar to those of Miss HK.
Just my humble opinion, but 16/17 year old 'boys' are hardly developed enough to be considered men. If women develop faster than men, shouldn't the age requirement for Mr. HK begin after 18 years? (If the age limit for Miss HK is between 18-25)

The 2nd Toronto casting was held today at the Holiday Inn on King. There were quite a lot of standouts & many of them with great personalities. One candidate is actually a best friend of Miss Chinese Toronto 2000 Cissy Wang! Another was friends with Miss Chinese Toronto 2002 Diana Wu & even has the exact same name! More pics to come later....

She has been so busy that she would have to spend Mother's Day at work. Luckily she has the understanding of her mother Cheng Pei Pei who is also the show's producer. They both decide to spend Mother's Day at work.
"This show has a lot of song and dance, and the singing is live. It's also the first time I wrote songs and lyrics. . Mommy is a workaholic, I really want to be like her. (Have you lost sleep over the show?) No. Mommy and I get up very early and work until very less at night. Sometimes I wouldn't have enough sleep either."
After over 40 years away from the stage, Sister Pei Pei will perform and produce as she personally commands Yuan Ji Wai, Sam Chan Yu Sam, and Wong Yu Si in the rehearsal. She says, "The three of them have performed great, I don't need to say more about my daughter.
I heard that the tickets have been selling well. I don't dare to see how it's going. The venue is a little far and the show is experimental. Whether the audience response is good or not we will still perform seriously."

Liu Bik Yi and Vincent Kuk Tak Siu yesterday were guest judges for TVB's
MINUTES TO FAME (CHAN HO YUT DING).
Two candidates both stripped to their boxers and one even showed a "fake
rear".
Bernice praised the high quality candidates. "Actually I don't understand what they are singing, I just look at the performances, but coming up with so many performances in such a short time is truly hard. In addition performing on stage has pressure, which kept me from eliminating them. So I enjoyed the performances more than eliminations."

will be the first delegate to arrive Bangkok on May 7th.
Please note that Michell was the first one to arrive Bangkok last 13
years and she returned home with Miss Universe crown. Delegates will

The love affair between Sonija Kwok and Deric Wan has never really had much good press, with numerous reports of them splitting, always followed by one-sided denials. At a recent event in a shopping mall, Sonijahas finally revealed that their relationship has ended and she has split from Deric.
Talking about how she relieves stress, Sonija says she goes out shopping and to the movies with her mother and playing at home with her dog and cat. When it was mentioned that dating was another way to relax, she said calmly: "I don't have a date! (Have you split with Deric?) Yes." With such a high profile relationship ending without any commotion, Sonija insists there was no conflict, but it just faded away. Asked whether they were amicable, Sonijasays they are still friends. As for who suggested the split, Sonija refused to answer, saying it is her private matter and she is making this known because they had decided to reveal their relationship in the beginning, it is only proper for everyone to know that it is over. As for why they split, Sonija says: "Maybe because we are both so busy and didn't have time to see each other or date. (But you seemed so close before?) This is all in the past now. I don't want to date at the moment so I don't know if I will accept anyone else's advances."
As for whether she felt the negative press had influenced the ending of their relationship, Sonija says that there will be some effect, but she does not regret making their relationship public and she does not really care what other people think or write. At the moment she will continue to work hard and denies tht her relationship affected her career progression. She still has a year left of her contract with TVB and the company is very sincere in offering her a renewal already, so she has no plans to head elsewhere.
