Miss Chinese Community Quest Melbourne 2004Launch
12 contestants have been selected for Miss Chinese
Melbourne 2004. Last week, the girls have completed the photo shoots and
this weekend on Saturday 2nd October they will be attending the Media

contestants will be released shortly. What are the qualities of this
year's contestant compared to last year? We shall wait and find out.
The Miss
Chinese Community Quest has a long history in Melbourne. The first formal
Quest was hosted by the CYSM in 1986 and has since blossomed into a
premier event within the chinese community calendar attracting much
attention and support from the media and the wider Chinese community. It
has also recently attracted the support of many high-profile corporate
sponsors and public awareness of the event is ever increasing.
The quality
of the event has consistenly raised the benchmark in elegance,
spohistication and professionalism above levels often expected from
community activites and events. Organised productions work, consultation
with professionals on choreography and logistics, concentrated media
coverage, co-operation with charitable organisations and strong public
exposure through the community have all been a part of the Quest,
providing a positive experience for everyone involved. In addition to the
domestic quality of Quest, the event has secured international support
with the winner of the Quest representing Melbourne in the Miss Chinese
International Pageant in Hong Kong which is organised by the leading Hong
Kong television association TVB Hong Kong. The Quest has allowed many of
its winners to launch international careers ranging from the entertainment
industry to promoting humanitarian causes. *courtesy of the Chinese Youth Society of

with a food program. "This time we had six different costumes, detectives,
old ladies, models, my favorite nostalgic look, all to match the food
theme." Szeki even had to imitate each era's speech and manner. "Each time
aside from tasting, I even learned to cook with chefs. I have learned
alot. After the program aired, friends asked me about food like I was a
food consultant." Sept

Dai Yu, Kenix Kwok Ho Ying, Shirley Yeung Szeki, Roy Chow Wing Hung and
Chiu Chung Yu yesterday attended the SHINE ON YOU (CHING CHOOK YU NAM)
celebration. The show has received the year's highest first week average
rating (30 points). Ho Ying was asked w whether the show can challenge WAR
AND BEAUTY (GUM JI YUK YIP). She said, "The target audience of the two
shows are different. One is very positive and discussed by students; the
other has office politics and more housewife support; some shows succeed
in a high key manner while some remain low key. I am very confident that
the rating will continue to rise."
http://www.the-sun.com.hk/channels/ent/20040923/img/e05092311_big.jpg Miss Hong Kong yesterday continued her Taiwan
goodwill visit. Around 2PM when they visited a tofu making landmark they
ran into an air raid drill. Miss Hong Kong Kate Tsui Tsi Shan and first
runner up Queenie Chu Wai Man both have experienced earthquake drills in
America. Tsui Tsi Shan felt that the experience is invaluable. "As a
visitor I can experience the local life. It's not for real. I don't have
to be afraid of drills."
Miss Hong
Kong and her fellow winners did not appreciate fragrant tofu too much but
are interested in making them. Tsui Tsi Shan said, "The fragrant tofu here
isn't as fragrant as Hong Kong's. In Hong Kong I have to be 20 feet away."
With rumours
brewing about the relationship between Maggie Cheung and Alice Tang, a
magazine has recently revealed that when they went shopping, Alice bought
Maggie an expensive watch. Maggie responded to this earlier when she took
part in a movie premiere. She says that she will not take any notice in
the reports from this magazine: "Sorry, the report was totally untrue and
you can ignore it." When asked if this will affect their normal
friendship, she says that of course it will not and she will not be
unhappy about it. She laughs that she only found out about it after her
friends told her and she just laughed it off.
When it was
suggested by reporters that she may have less and less friends, Maggie
smiles that maybe she has lost her husband as well. She insists that on
that day, she did meet Alice to look at watches, because she has some
expertise in them and this is a normal pastime. When asked if she is
afraid these reports will stop men from courting her, Maggie says: "Why
would you think that?" Maybe the reports of their closeness will give the
message that she is homosexual? Maggie says that this is a magazine report
and it is not the indication of what the public thinks.
Maggie Cheung The DKNY 2004 Autumn/Winter
collection show was held two nights ago and Maggie Cheung arrived after
the show had started and was immediately the focus of interviews from the
press. Maggie's 'rumoured girlfriend' Alice Tang was also present and it
turned out that the two friends had arranged to watch the show together.
As they sat together without any hint of awkwardness, they chatted and
laughed through the show and Maggie seemed very flirtatious throughout the
evening as she leaned against the sofa for the press to take
photos.
When the
reporters commented that Maggie was dressed very sexily, she laughed that
for her, watching a fashion show is still work. Did she arrange to meet
Alice for the show? She syas that they both came after work. As for their
relationship, Maggie says that she has always seen Alice as a big sister
and a very close friend, because in this industry it is very difficult to
find someone that you can share all your secrets with.
Earlier,
there were reports that she shared seven rather ominous hours together at
home with Alice and Maggie says: "Do you think it looks like that? We are
around the same age, so we are good friends." She believes that this news
is too pointless and points out that it is difficult for artistes to make
friends, like when she went for dinner with Joe Ma earlier, it was twisted
into another story and this left her feeling very frustrated. When asked
if she knows Alice's background, Maggie laughs: "Is she a triad? Haha.. I
don't care about backgrounds." Does she feel that there is a romantic
intention? Maggie said to the reporters: "You really need to tweak your
mind a little." The reporters then suggested that she should find her
Prince Charming soon to avoid any more rumours, but she laughs she will
not because any princes will be frightened off by the press.
Alice happily
answered questions from the press, saying that she and Maggie have been
good friends all along and maybe because they are so close, that they have
been misunderstood. She feels hard done by because the rumours started
just a few months into their friendship. As for romance, Alice says there
is no chance of this because although she is yet to find her other half,
she will introduce men to Maggie. Alice then went on to praise her good
friend's performance in "War and Beauty", saying she is the best out of
the cast.

Ada
Choi is currently filming for "Qi Jian Xia Tian Shan" in Xinjiang
(mainland China). Leading actors of this new production include Vincent
Zhao and Ray Lui. Ada only brought some vests and a few outfits with her,
as she had no idea it could get so cold at night over there. Out of an
urgent need, she bought a feather coat to keep her warm.
The shooting
location is in Kelamayi, and the transportation is rather incovenient. Ada
isn't complaining though, since she likes the nearby desert a lot. She is
amazed by the beautiful scenery, and thinks all the hours spent on
traveling are worthwhile. The flip side is, the local hotel she lives in
only provides hot water from 8pm to midnight every day, and electricity is
not guaranteed. Asked how she kills time after work, Ada laughs and
answers, "Facial!"

21 Halina Tam Siu Wan plays a brain
cancer patient who has fallen for Dr. Ching Chi Mei in the TVB series
HEALING HANDS 3 (MIU SAU YUN SUM III). Because Dr. Ching does not return
the love, finally she takes the hopeless way out. Yesterday Siu Wan worked
on a rescue scene. The location had ambulances, police cars, emergency
medics, police officers, and reporters and looked like a real building
jump.Siu Wan's cancer patient look was revealed for the first time.
Although Siu Wan initially was concerned after seeing the result she was
rather satisfied. "From the front it's okay, it's pretty, but it doesn't
feel that great. My foot and a half long hair is in the back. It's so heat
I will definitely get a rash." The director asked her to shave her head
originally but she turned the idea down right away. "I am very
superstitious. To me long hair is lucky. When I competed in Miss Chinese
International pageant I cut my hair to chin length and before the contest
I injured my leg. Thus even when people say it's boring, my hair has to be
at least shoulder length." Siu Wan disagreed with her character's
decision. "I of course won't be dumb enough to kill myself for love. The
character is a talented woman and an outstanding youth. If I am that
talented I am even less likely to kill myself for a man. Just get another
one."
http://www.the-sun.com.hk/channels/ent/20040921/img/e04092110_big.jpg Chu Wai San, Alice Chan Wai, Lai Yin San and Candy Law Lam attended a
Miss Asia pageant promotion. Chu Wai San recalled that she competed in a
beauty pageant 19 years ago. In the past she was the most afraid of people
asking her which year she competed in. Lately she felt that since she is
still in such great shape, why be afraid. As for her skin maintenance
advice, she said, "Maintenance is a long term process. On average one
should start around 25, but I started even earlier at the age of 20. Skin
protection has to adjust to skin condition. When it is poor, I will do
facial mask twice a day."

Kwok Ming yesterday attended the costume fitting for the TVB costume
series BOON CHO YEUK WONG (BASIC HERBAL MEDICINE KING). Yip Shuen claimed
that Kenix Kwok Ho Ying thought of marriage after going to Anita Mui Yim
Fong's concert and her ticket was originally Yip Shuen's. Lam Man Lung was
surprised.
Sept 20th http://www.the-sun.com.hk/channels/ent/20040920/img/e01092001_big.jpg Astrid Chan Chi Ching yesterday was reminded of being
sexually harrassed on the set of SHOWBIZ TYCOON (YING SING DAI HUNG) four
or five years ago after hearing about the Mango Wong Sau Lam Eric Wan Tin
Chiu sexual harrassment case. Chi Ching said that while working on the
show, a C or D list male artist brushed the back of his hand on her rear
in a scene and a press conference and thus was certain that he was
deliberate. At the time she wanted to slap him but kept quiet instead. She
said if it happened today she definitely would say something.
Myolie Wu Hung Yi and Ron Ng Cheuk Hei yesterday
attended Nature's first beauty specialty store opening. Myolie Wu and
Ron Ng were cutting ribbons for a new beauty salon yesterday. Myolie said
she had plans to buy a house, but she couldn't make up her mind as the
market price kept going up. She also said she would not buy the house with
her boyfriend, because she wanted to focus on her career and they would
not get married or live together in the foreseeable future. "This way,
even if we break up, we won't worry about who gets the house. But of
course, if he wants to buy a house and write my name under "owner", I
won't mind at all!" Myolie laughed.
http://www.takungpao.com/news/2004-9-19/UL-307529.htm Steven Ma and Linda Chung were shooting for "Virtues
of Harmony" in Sheung Wan yesterday. As the plot went, Linda thought
Steven was a lascivious guy, so she gave him a lesson and made him suffer
until he got hurt. Later, Linda realized Steven was actually a good man,
so she started taking care of him to compensate for her mistake. Little
did she know Steven was playing with her and wasn't all that hurt. When
Linda finally discovered the truth, she slapped Steven in the
face.

product event. After the show she worked on the TVB series LO POR DAI YUN
(OLD LADY YOUR HONOR). She said, "Lee Si Jit has already given his first
onscreen kiss to me, now he is even giving me his bed scene. Now I am a
little nervous."

http://www.orientaldaily.com.hk/photo/20040917/ent/0917enew29b1.jpg 1997 MHK Finalist: Christine Auyeung Miu Chi has worn
over a thousand wedding gowns in her career. Thus for her own wedding
photo she and her fiancee went to the plains in china for a natural and
energetic effect. The couple ran for several thousand meters on the plains
as their costumes were soaked.
Auyeung Miu
Chi said that this was the most difficult location shoot in history
because of the sun. She and her fiancee were in the sun for 8 hours. "I am
used to being a model and I thought it was tough. He didn't complain once
during the 8 hours." She said that they have run into many
difficulties on the trip. Because 11 people were in the group, scheduling
alone changed the date three times. They have thought about not taking the
photos but her friends advised, "You will regret not taking wedding photos
in the future." After the shoot she sid, "This time everyone has had a
tough time. Seeing how the crew protected me, the wedding has made me
realize how are my real friends." She said the wedding gown was sponsored,
the hairstylist and the make up artist were friends. Thus the shoot did
not cost much.
